Why is Anime Addicting?
Author:Sep 20
Does it surprise you that there are so many people who make anime the center of their lives? Just as cigarettes and alcohol can be addicting, anime can be addicting too. People who are addicted to anime, however, are termed as otaku, anime otaku, to be exact. There are people who do nothing all day but watch anime, think about anime, theorize about anime, collect anime, squeal about anime, and dream about anime. Well, not really but they still do a lot of stuff that are not related to anime, but you get the point. They’re totally and undeniably addicted to anime and who can blame them? Anime is just about one of the most addicting things in the world. But what makes it so addicting?
As a self-confessed anime addict, I’ll have to say that there are several reasons why anime is so addicting.
Characters
The first, and probably the most compelling reason of all, is the sheer beauty by which the makers create their characters. Out of all cartoons in the world, it is only in Japanese anime that I have seen such well rounded and realistic characters that are so distinctly human. Anime does not delude the viewers into thinking that someone can be perfect. The heroes and heroines in anime, beautiful as they may be, have their own flaws and insecurities. They’re not like the princesses in the cartoon fairy tales who are epitomes of grace and goodness, and are thereby incredibly flat and drab. Anime heroes and heroines are human, and their humanity makes them all the more interesting.
Also, because they each have their own personalities, we’re sure to find at least one character in every show with whom we can relate with and empathize with. And this is one of the biggest reasons why we get hooked in anime versus American cartoons because we’re always trying to find out what’s going to happen with our favorite characters.
Plots
The plots in anime are just as much reason to get addicted as the characters themselves. Anime Series are almost always gifted with great plots. The plots are seldom ever watered down to suit the audience, thus never undermining the intelligence of the viewers as some of the other cartoon series do. They anime makers can dish out the most elaborate plots and never worry whether anyone will understand whether they will be understood or not – after all, anime is not simply a franchise, it’s a form of art, and if people don’t understand it today. Then maybe the people of tomorrow will.
Anime plots are always suffused with a sufficient amount of suspense, drama, intrigue, politics, and enough twists and turns to leave your jaw hanging. And not only that, they’re usually deep and always have a lesson attached to them.
Animation
Okay, let’s not deny it. Part of the reason why we watch anime is because it simply looks amazing. Take for example Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, although they are in 2D format, sometimes they are drawn even better then the ones that are created in 3D. Given two choices for the general public to pick; to watch Naruto or to watch Shrek 3D my bet is most would choose to watch Naruto. Those overly large eyes, those gravity defying hairstyles, those weirder than weird clothes; they’re simply perfect and enough to make anyone keep coming back for more. The artistic amazement is just none stop however you look at it.
I enjoy listening to my favorite music as it’s a great source of relaxation. I love to play music tracks on my PC, as it lets me work more peacefully. But, when I added the ArtDio 2.0 Portable Speaker System, the experience was heavenly.
A standard 3.5 mm stereo input connection and headphone jack integrated in the ArtDio 2.0 Portable Speaker System makes it compatible with all audio sources. This versatile system can also be used as an iPod speaker system as well. ArtDio multimedia sound system has given a new dimension to the music on my iPod. Design and Style
The ArtDio 2.0 Portable speaker sound system is ideal for users who want the utmost sound quality without compromising on design and style. It sports an attractive look, and also includes advanced features to provide a great listening experience.

Moreover, the system is magnetically shielded to prevent disturbance due to interference from other devices.
This high-end multimedia sound system also comes with easy-to-use features. The ArtDio 2.0 Portable Speaker System has side panel volume and tone buttons that enable easy access to control functions.

Animation/ Multimedia Education in India
Author:Sep 13
The Indian animation market, fairly “static” until a few years ago and activity on this
front only began in earnest in the later half of the 90s when animation studios made an appearance in the country and the industry developed a more serious, export oriented outlook. India is now waking up to a host of global opportunities that promise a lot of “action” for the country’s leading design specialists.
According to NASSCOM study, the forces that are shaping the development of the animation industry in India include technical manpower to meet the 2-D and 3-D animation requirements, lower costs of animation production, the expected demand from domestic Indian television channels and the formation of domestic animation studios and training centres.
The animation market in India today is characterized by the presence of multiple players including Crest Communications, Films Division Maya Entertainment, Silvertoon Studio, 2NZ Studio, Cine Magin, Climb Films, UTV Toons, Zee Institute of Creative Arts (ZICA), Digital Studio, Pentamedia Graphics, Prasad Studios, Acropetal, jadooWorks, Color Chips, Heart Animation, Ocean Park, Padmalaya Telefilms, and Toonz Animation, Magic Shop, Moving Pictures, among others. These companies are spread across cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram.
A snapshot of the Indian animation market scenario in the 90’s:
1. The merger of two existing and leading design studios-Ram Mohan Biographic and United Studios-made available for the first time, infrastructure and resources required for animation. Design studios began teaming up with overseas animation firms, taking the co-producing or subcontracting route, and in this way upgraded their technical skill sets
2. By 1993, there were around 15 animation studies in the country, with three to four using IT tools and techniques. These studios were coming up in cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and New Delhi.
3. Leading animation studios included the Silvertoon Studio and Crest Communications, both of which took on subcontracted work from US, French and British studios.
4. Training in animation became more rampant, because some of the professionals have shown their interest to groom future generations of the animation and media related programs and also various organizations such as the Film and Television Institute in Pune offering three-year diploma programs in Animation. If some one looking for a firm foothold in the industry doesn’t look for the certificate or brand credibility, look for the professional training, professional training and professional training only.
5. India attempted to enter the global animation market in 1997 with the setting up of Heart Animation Academy, a specialized animation school established in Hyderabad.
India has several training institutes that cater to the demand of training animation professionals. Chief among them are the National Institute of Design (Ahmedabad), J.J. School of Arts, Zee Institute of Creative Arts (ZICA), Mumbai, Industrial Design Center (IIT Mumbai), IIT Guwahati, C-DAC’s National Multimedia Resource Center (Pune). Private training institutes include Arena Animation Academy (Mumbai) and Pentamedia Graphics (Chennai).
India’s animation studios are catering to the requirements of various end user segments such as feature films, TV programs, advertisements/commercials and computer games. Animation solutions are also finding a place in niches such as film titling, special effects, Web entertainment programs, TV broadcast graphics, 3D modeling and background development. Segments such as online education, CAD/CAE, and industry specific applications such as architecture, medical, legal/insurance, etc. are also potential platforms for animation, though Indian studios are not focused on these markets. Skill sets in 2D and 3D animation are leading to opportunities in segments such as TV programs and feature films.
Is India the animation hub?
A recent study on the animation industry by NASSCOM shows that the global animation production market is set for major growth. The study, which is based on multiple statistical projections on the market, from segments such as industry sources, Pixel Inc. and Arthur Andersen (Study on the Entertainment and Media sector) forecasts that the global animation market will generate revenues worth US$ 80-90 billion by 2012. Total animation production by Indian producers meanwhile is expected to touch US$2.0 billion by 2012 (Arthur Andersen’s study on the Entertainment and Media sector).
India is gradually positioning itself as a significant provider of animation production services. The country’s strengths and edge in the market include the following:
1. A vast base of English speaking manpower: animation, which requires a familiarity with the English language, benefits when the work is outsourced to India.
2. Presence of animation studios: a number of Indian cities already boast hi-tech animation studios which are successfully completing projects from overseas companies. There are at least 12 animation studios in India that are global class with the relevant hardware software and communications infrastructure, experience,
skill sets and consumer profile.
3. Low cost of animation services: India’s edge in terms of pricing is stated to be unmatched. Compared to countries like US and Canada or even Korea, and the Philippines, the Indian animation costs are the lowest.
4. India’s large entertainment sector: Owing to a prolific entertainment segment, India has a ready supply of content developers.
5. Heritage of traditional literature: Indian content developers also have exposure and access to rich heritage of traditional literature. This would offer the potential for content-based partnerships.
The Indian domestic market too is throwing up revenue generation prospects for ICT solutions providers specializing in this market. The requirement by the burgeoning
Indian television segment for animation and special effects related work is also giving a fillip to this segment. Recognizing this potential, a number of Indian software players are turning their attention to animation. Animation studios now dot the country and the industry is also witnessing the arrival of training houses that are dedicated to building skilled manpower for this market.
